The earlier version continues to be sold for the benefit of users that require Snow Leopard in order to upgrade to Lion, which is primarily sold through the Mac App Store introduced in the Snow Leopard 10.6.6 update. Snow Leopard was succeeded by Mac OS X Lion (version 10.7) on July 20, 2011. As support for Rosetta was dropped in Mac OS X Lion, Snow Leopard is the last version of Mac OS X that is able to run PowerPC-only applications. This is also the first Mac OS release since System 7.1.1 that does not support Macs that use PowerPC processors, as Apple now intends to focus on its current line of Intel-based products.

New programming frameworks, such as OpenCL, were created, allowing software developers to use graphics cards in their applications. Much of the software in Mac OS X was extensively rewritten for this release in order to fully take advantage of modern Macintosh hardware. Addition of new end-user features was not a primary goal. Unlike previous versions of Mac OS X, the goals with Snow Leopard were improved performance, greater efficiency and the reduction of its overall memory footprint. The release of Snow Leopard came nearly two years after the introduction of Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5), the second longest time span between successive Mac OS X releases. As a result of the low price, initial sales of Snow Leopard were significantly higher than that of its predecessors. (I also tried the Gutenberg driver method.) I've carefully compared my before and after prints - "before" being done with the correct method and "after" being done with the "color controls" method that you used - and the non-standard method changes the overall color (in the blue direction, it seems) and darkens it. Your method will produce a print that doesn't look too bad, but it is not correctly color adjusted. The correct method is to choose "Photoshop manages colors" from the popup on the first page and then to select the "no color adjustment" button from the "Color management" page in the next dialog.
This is not the recommended approach for getting accurate print color with the epson (and other) profiles. I'm afraid that this is not really a solution, for several reasons: Am I correct that you select "no color management" on the first print dialog page and then use the "color management" popup to select the "color controls" button? This is the only way to see the gamma popup that you mention. See: Cheers, J Jason, I suspect that you are printing using the method that is not preferred for accurate color reproduction. Finally allow your application and icc profiles to do your color management. Do NOT change any other settings in driver, do NOT select Vivid setting in driver (leave it at photo-realistic - this will leave the colors unaltered). Solution: You must change driver gamma setting to 2.2. Prints were dark and green for me for some time, but are now perfect.
